Lip Filler
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Miami, FL

A lip filler is a gel-like substance that can restore a plumper and more shapely appearance in the lips, oftentimes also softening visible signs of aging around the mouth.
Over time, it is normal for the lips to change in appearance due to things like sun exposure, smoking, the natural effects of aging, and more. While this is completely natural, thinning or wrinkling lips can impact your confidence and make you look older than you feel. With lip fillers, you can address these concerns so that you can feel great about your pout!
Aeris is a leading aesthetic practice in Miami, where patients can have their lip filler injections performed by experts who offer a wide array of injectables.

About Lip Fillers
At Aeris, we use hyaluronic acid (HA)-based dermal fillers to deliver the results we have become so well-known for. HA is a naturally occurring substance that attracts and binds to the water molecules in our skin. Results can last for several months after injection, depending on the specific formulation, including its degree of crosslinking, solubility, and viscosity. (1)
Juvederm
Juvederm (Juvéderm®) is a portfolio of fillers featuring Vycross® technology, which creates more flexible results that can move with your natural expressions more easily.
Restylane
Restylane (Restylane®) is a collection of fillers that can elevate and refine your existing facial features. Restylane uses XpresHAn Technology™, which gives the filler a softer, more pliable gel texture.
Benefits
There are several benefits that you may experience when receiving lip fillers, including:
- Refined Shape: Lip fillers can improve the appearance of several areas across the upper and lower lips to improve their overall proportionality and attractiveness.
- Improved Fullness: Your specialist can administer lip fillers to enhance the appearance of naturally-thin lips or to address age-related volume loss.
- Elevated Contours: Lip fillers can improve the definition of your vermillion borders to highlight the natural sculpt and outline of your lips.
- Non-Surgical Nature: Your specialist will administer your treatment using injections, which means that you will not need to worry about scarring, general anesthesia, or a lengthy recovery time.
- Minimal Downtime: You will be able to return to your routine immediately after your injections, making it easier for you to attend your appointments if you live a busier lifestyle.
- Lasting Results: The results of your lip fillers can last between several months and one year before your specialist may recommend returning for reinjections.
Candidates
You may be a candidate for lip fillers if you are interested in augmenting or modifying the shape and fullness of your lips and addressing signs of aging around your mouth. These include fine lines, wrinkles, or “smoker’s lines,” which are vertical lip lines that can form from aging. This treatment is also ideal if you prefer achieving your results through minimally invasive means.
To qualify for lip fillers, you will need to be in good general health without any sensitivities or allergies to the ingredients in the formula of your choosing. You should also maintain realistic expectations regarding what your treatments can achieve. Our team of specialists will determine your candidacy for lip fillers during your personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, your injector will meet with you to get to know you, finalize your candidacy, and help you craft your treatment plan. They will explain the differences between our fillers, the benefits and limitations of lip fillers, as well as the injection process. They will then ask you a series of questions about your medical history, aesthetic goals, and areas of concern. Your specialist will also assess your current lip shape.
Your specialist will use the details from your conversation to create a personalized solution to achieving your ideal pout. Throughout the conversation, they will answer any questions you may have, as we want you to feel confident in your treatment.
If you are ready to receive your tailored treatment plan, we encourage you to schedule a consultation online. Alternatively, you may reach our Coral Gables office at (305) 446-7700.
Preparation
Your specialist will give you a set of preparation instructions to help you prime your skin before your treatment. These instructions are straightforward, but you will need to follow each one. They typically include:
- Altering your skincare routine to avoid using harsh products, such as retinoids, retinols, and chemical exfoliants.
- Refraining from taking any blood-thinning medications or supplements.
- Protecting your lips using hydrating products such as lip balms or chapsticks.
- Arriving at your appointment with clean skin.
Your specialist will give you any additional information during your personal consultation.
Procedure
Your injector will perform your lip injections in our office. The appointment is typically 15 to 30 minutes long, but the exact duration will vary depending on your treatment plan. Your specialist may apply a topical anesthetic to elevate your comfort, but this may not be necessary. Certain fillers already contain lidocaine to numb the treatment area.
Your specialist will use a premeasured syringe to carefully inject the filler into certain areas of your lips, including the cupid’s bow, vermilion, philtrum, vermilion border, and more.
Recovery
Immediately after your lip injections, you will be able to return to pretty much all of your daily activities. Your specialist may, however, advise against certain things, like using a scrub or harsh skincare products.
You may experience some swelling, tenderness, or redness around the injection sites initially. (2) These effects will subside rather quickly.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
Results
After your appointment, you will be able to experience an immediate improvement in the appearance of your lips. You can expect to enjoy more defined, shapely, and voluminous lips. You can also experience more even and symmetrical lips, and improvements in the balance among your facial features.
The results of lip fillers are long-lasting, with effects that can last for approximately 6 to 18 months. However, this duration will vary depending on the type of filler your specialist administers, as well as your body’s unique metabolism.
Corresponding Treatment: Neuromodulators
Neuromodulators are injectable treatments that are typically used to relax certain facial muscles to soften lines and wrinkles. Unlike fillers, neuromodulators do not add any volume to the skin. Neuromodulators can address concerns in various regions of the face, including the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and more. At Aeris, we offer Botox and Dysport as our neuromodulator options.
We encourage you to read our blog to learn more about the other treatments we offer at Aeris.

FAQ
How will I know if I am a candidate for lip fillers?
During your personal consultation, your specialist will meet with you individually to determine whether lip fillers are right for you and which type of filler is most appropriate for your desired corrections.
Is there a difference between Juvederm and Restylane?
Juvederm and Restylane are both composed of hyaluronic acid, but their manufacturers formulate them with different particle sizes to provide different results and benefits. Juvederm also features Vycross® technology to produce smooth, lasting results, while Restylane uses XpresHAn Technology™ to create softer, more flexible effects.
Will it hurt to receive lip fillers?
Many patients do not require a topical anesthetic or numbing cream when receiving this treatment, making it well-tolerated by many. However, you may experience a slight pinching sensation. Discomfort after the procedure is typically considered very slight.
Can my specialist combine my injections with another aesthetic procedure?
Yes, your specialist may combine your lip fillers with another treatment to complement your results or address several concerns at once. During your consultation, they can assess your candidacy for the other treatments you are interested in, as well as provide you with personalized recommendations based on your aesthetic goals. A commonly combined procedure is a neuromodulator injectable, which relaxes muscles to provide a smoother look to the skin.
How can I avoid an overfilled look with lip fillers?
Our injectors are highly experienced with lip fillers and are knowledgeable about the anatomy of the lips. They only inject the filler into specific areas to target volumization where the lips need it most, without making them look too plump.
