About Mommy Makeovers
The surgeons at Aeris perform each procedure in a single treatment session to streamline your overall operative and recovery times and achieve more cohesive, transformative results.
What Does a Mommy Makeover Include?
The surgeons at Aeris fully customize all aspects of your procedure to address your unique concerns. Typically, a mommy makeover includes:
- Breast Augmentation with Implants: Breast augmentation uses either silicone or saline implants to elevate the size, shape, fullness, and symmetry of the breasts. (1)
- Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer: This procedure transfers fat from other areas of your body to your breasts to enhance their appearance. (1)
- Breast Lift: Breast lifts elevate your breasts on the chest wall to address a deflated appearance without significantly altering their volume. (2)
- Liposuction: Liposuction uses a suction cannula to remove stubborn fat from essentially anywhere in the body. (3)
- Tummy Tuck: A tummy tuck removes excess skin from the abdomen and tightens the abdominal muscles to address diastasis recti and restore a flatter and smoother look and feel. (4) Diastasis recti often occurs as a result of pregnancy and is difficult to address on ones own.
These are some of the most popular procedures included in mommy makeovers, but many women choose to include other procedures in their treatment plan to address their concerns. Some patients choose to include non-surgical treatments or facial rejuvenation treatments so they can feel like their most confident selves.
Mommy Makeover Recovery: A Timeline
Recovering from a mommy makeover is generally more involved than other procedures, as several regions of your body will be healing at once. Your surgeon will provide you with a comprehensive set of post-operative instructions to guide you through each phase. You should follow all instructions closely.
You will likely be taking about two weeks off from work so that you can focus on resting. Your surgeon see you during follow-up appointments to monitor your healing progress.
Week One
Throughout your initial healing period, you can expect swelling and bruising around the treated areas. These effects will gradually subside as you continue to heal, but you may manage any discomfort you experience using prescribed medications. Your surgeon may also have you wear a compression garment or supportive bra to minimize swelling and support your new curves.
You will primarily be resting during this time, although your surgeon may direct you to stand or take light walks to enhance circulation.
Weeks Two and Three
During your second and third week of recovery, your recovery symptoms will begin to decrease, and you may find it easier to complete tasks without assistance. Your surgeon may ask that you return to the office for a follow-up visit to remove any drains or stitches and assess your progress.
You will be able to start returning to light, non-strenuous tasks or desk work around this time. However, you will need to continue refraining from any high-impact, arduous, or physically demanding activities until you receive clearance.
Weeks Four and Five
Most of your side effects will have dissipated by your fourth and fifth weeks of healing, but you may still experience some residual swelling or stiffness in certain body regions. Your surgeon will continue to monitor your recovery progress and let you know when you can return to more high-impact activities.
Weeks Six and Seven
Around your sixth and seventh weeks of recovery, lingering swelling will subside, and you will start seeing your results more clearly. You will also be able to return to more strenuous activities and exercise.
Long-Term Healing
Over time, you can expect your results to become more apparent as any final swelling disappears. Any tight or stiff tissue will begin to soften and settle into its final place, and any scarring will continue to fade until it becomes barely noticeable. Scar treatment protocols can help patients soften and reduce the appearance of scarring.
Results
You will be able to enjoy the full results of your mommy makeover once any residual swelling subsides. Your exact results will vary depending on the combination of procedures you undergo, but you can expect to enjoy benefits like a flatter stomach, more defined waist, smoother and tighter skin, more shapely and symmetrical breasts, improved proportionality, and a more contoured figure overall.
Mommy makeovers yield long-lasting results, with effects that you can enjoy for several years to come. We advise that you maintain a stable weight, as fluctuations can alter your results over time. Another pregnancy can also alter the results of your mommy makeover.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, your surgeon will provide you with important information about the recovery process. They will let you know how much time you will need to take off from work, how to prepare your living space, and how often you will need to attend follow-up appointments.
If you are ready to schedule this consultation, please submit our online contact form. You may also call our Miami office directly at (305) 446-7700.

FAQ
What procedures does a mommy makeover typically include?
We combine several different breast-enhancing and body-contouring procedures in each mommy makeover. Most include a combination of breast augmentation with implants, breast augmentation with fat grafting, breast lifts, liposuction, and tummy tucks.
When will I be able to return to work after my mommy makeover?
You may return to work after resting for approximately two weeks, or once you feel well enough to and your surgeon approves. However, those with more strenuous or physically demanding careers may need to wait for another few weeks before returning, with clearance from their surgeon.
Will I be able to breastfeed after my mommy makeover?
You may be able to breastfeed after your recovery, although we recommend waiting to undergo this procedure until you have completed breastfeeding and having children. If you have any plans to breastfeed in the future, we recommend discussing them with your surgeon so they may tailor your procedure accordingly.
When will I see the results of my mommy makeover?
You will be able to see the full, refined results of your mommy makeover once any residual swelling subsides. This may take about 3–6 months.
What will I experience during my mommy makeover recovery?
You may experience some initial bruising, swelling, or soreness in the regions of your figure that your surgeon treated. These effects will dissipate on their own as you recover, but you may also manage them through prescribed medications, plenty of rest, and the use of supportive garments. You will have to be careful about your movements and refrain from strenuous activity, and follow all of the instructions you are given.
Who is a candidate for a mommy makeover?
Typical candidates for mommy makeover procedures include women interested in correcting the lasting, physical effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding within a single treatment session. These effects include sagging skin, misshapen or deflated breasts, malpositioned or downturned nipples, stubborn fat, weakened abdominal muscles, and more. Patients do not necessarily need to be mothers, they just have to share similar procedure goals.
Can I include additional, unlisted procedures in my mommy makeover?
Yes! You can integrate additional procedures into your treatment plan if you are interested in addressing any other concerns that we did not mention on this page. The surgeons at Aeris can tailor each procedure to help you achieve each of your personal goals. This includes nonsurgical procedures, facial rejuvenation procedures, and more.
