Aeris – Rhinoplasty and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship 

Based in our brand new state-of-the-art, 8,000-square-foot South Miami facility, this highly competitive program offers unparalleled, comprehensive training in advanced cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement, and body contouring. Under the direct mentorship of world-renowned surgeon Dr. Ghersi, who performs a prolific 450–500 rhinoplasties annually using cutting-edge preservation and piezo electrosurgical techniques, our fellows train at the absolute forefront of surgical innovation.

Supported by a faculty of three additional plastic surgeons and enriched by academic affiliations with Cleveland Clinic Florida, this fellowship seamlessly blends rigorous scientific research with elite clinical practice. Here, top-tier plastic surgeons refine their artistic vision and technical precision, culminating in an independent, supervised luxury practice that prepares them to launch world-class careers.

Meet Dr. Victor Vakayil

Dr. Vakayil is a board-eligible plastic surgeon and the Aesthetic Society–Endorsed Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at Aeris Plastic Surgery in Miami. He was hand-selected for this prestigious role by Dr. Ghersi and his team, and will be working directly with Dr. Ghersi to perfect his technique and become an expert in the industry. Having grown up across three continents, Dr. Vakayil has been fortunate to experience many cultures and perspectives, shaping not only who he is as a person but also how he cares for his patients. He has learned that beauty is deeply personal, and that every patient has their own unique story, goals, and vision of confidence.

Dr. Vakayil earned his medical degree from the prestigious St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India, before completing one of the nation’s most competitive six-year integrated plastic surgery residency programs at the University of Minnesota, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year of training. Throughout residency, Dr. Vakayil developed a passion for aesthetic surgery while remaining deeply committed to academic medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, continues to collaborate on research with the University of Minnesota, and believes that advancing the field through research is an important part of providing exceptional patient care.

Dr. Vakayil was deeply honored to receive his residency program’s Resident of the Year Award, recognizing excellence in clinical care, surgical skill, leadership, research, and dedication to patients. While those accomplishments are meaningful, the greatest privilege of his career is the trust his patients place in him.

Dr. Vakayil is an artist at heart. Painting and sculpting have been lifelong passions that continue to shape his approach to plastic surgery. To him, plastic surgery represents the perfect intersection of art and medicine, where technical precision, creativity, and compassion come together to create results that are both beautiful and deeply personal. Dr. Vakayil doesn’t believe aesthetic surgery is about creating perfection. Rather, it’s about enhancing what makes each person uniquely beautiful while preserving their individuality and helping them feel like the most confident version of themselves.

Dr. Vakayil believes the very best plastic surgery is the harmonious balance of form and function. Every consultation begins with listening, understanding who the patient is, what they hope to achieve, and what matters most to them. Together, they create a thoughtful, individualized treatment plan that reflects the patient’s goals, anatomy, and lifestyle. Dr. Vakayil’s philosophy has always been that the best results are elegant, natural, and authentically the patient’s own.

Perhaps what Dr. Vakayil values most about plastic surgery is the relationship he builds with his patients. He considers that relationship both a privilege and a sacred responsibility, striving to care for every patient with honesty, empathy, and unwavering attention to detail, treating each person with the same compassion and respect he would want for a member of his own family. His goal is not simply to help patients look their best, but to help them feel their best, with renewed confidence that extends far beyond the operating room.
